Private elementary, Jr.&Sr. Girls’ High School English teaching position in Hakone

Thank you for your interest in working for Project Genius, a concern of Korakuen English Centre. We aim to be the premier English language consultancy firm for private secondary schools in Japan.

Our client-school has asked us to find a dynamic high school teacher for a new position to support the implemention of a new, globally focused curriculum.

The school is an all girls’ Catholic primary and secondary school in Hakone. The school is walking distance from Gora station. Gora is one hour by train from Odawara Station, 37 minutes from Hakone Yumoto Station.

This area is a famous hot spring resort and popular holiday destination. Our teacher at this school will be able to enjoy this beautiful environment. It is an excellent base to go sightseeing to nearby locations such as Owakudani and Lake Ashinoko, or for enjoying a Japanese onsen on weekends and holidays.

Our teacher at the school currently resides in Odawara, where she enjoys the convenience of urban life while also appreciating the beautiful resort-like environment near the school.

We are looking for someone who can work a full-time schedule and currently lives within a reasonable (one hour) door-to-door commuting distance to the school campus or willing to relocate to Hakone area.

This position starts in April 2025

● A monthly salary of ¥280,000 per month, paid in full (minus taxes, etc.) each month for the 12 months of the contract.
● Transportation expenses are fully compensated.
● Provide Social Insurance and pension package.

● can help students successfully participate in English speech/debate contests.
● can teach English composition/essay writing.

● knowledge of and ability to tutor students to succeed in of EIKEN exams
● can work full time Monday to Friday during regular school hours (from 8:30 to 16:40) while also being willing to participate in occasional weekend and off campus events such as sports days and open houses if asked.
● can take the initiative when needed but is also able to work as a team player with both Japanese and non-Japanese teachers to work within an established curriculum.
● can keep a positive attitude while building relationships with staff and teachers, Japanese and non-Japanese, at this small friendly school.

Candidates whose resumes and cover letters demonstrate meeting these requirements, and whom we feel will be a good fit for the school, will be contacted for an interview through ZOOM.
