This is a full-time primary/elementary school teaching position from 16 August 2024 at an innovative international school with a full program from Pre-K age 3 to Grade 12 accredited by CIS and MSA. An elementary school teaching license is required! Preschool only or secondary school only is not sufficient unless offset or supplemented by experience teaching elementary school classes in elementary schools (not just tutoring).

The school is a dual language in English and Japanese (all subjects) and multiage by design with a three-year age/grade range of students per class. The elementary school classes all have two teachers, one who delivers the curriculum in English and one who delivers it in Japanese using a developmental, integrated, thematic approach and a myriad of resources rather than textbooks, so an ability to collaborate well with others is imperative. Experience with the Scottish Curriculum for Excellence would be ideal, but it is not required as the school uses the curriculum in its own way.

Hours 8:10-5:00 M-F every day the school is in session. It is an annual contract for the first three years, but availability for at least that long would be preferred. Most of the teachers and staff in the school are permanent, meaning they have been with the school for five years or more.

All of the teachers and staff are on the Japanese private school health, pension, and unemployment insurance system.

Prior or current experience in Japan would be an asset.

Again, this is an elementary school teaching position.
