MACHIYA INNS & HOTELS (Instagram:@machiyajapan), managed by AJ INTERBRIDGE INC., is an accommodation brand that offers travelers a chance to stay in Japanese-style boutique ‘machiya’ hotels and private ‘machiya’ holiday homes throughout Japan. We are the largest operator of ‘machiya’ (traditional Japanese townhouses) in Japan, with approximately 85 accommodations in Kyoto city, Kanazawa city, and Takayama city.

We are currently expanding the number of our machiya accommodations, and are looking to grow our guest services team. In addition, as about 80% of our guests are from overseas, you will be able to work in a multinational environment while making use of your communication & language skills.

Key Responsibilities

Our goal is to offer our guests memorable experiences during their travels in Japan.
+ Check-in/Check-out (both domestic and international)
+ Concierge services (sightseeing suggestions, restaurant reservations, etc.)
+ Guest Service support via email & telephone (both domestic and international)
+ Coordinate with the housekeeping and maintenance team
+ Liaison between departments
+ Other general customer service

Potential Career Path

In addition to management in guest services, you can also transfer to other departments (reservations, marketing, HR department). In addition to guest services, you’ll also gain experiences such as preparing for the opening of a new accommodation or being in charge of the opening a new hotel or accommodation.


Requirements
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
+ Valid visa holder currently residing in Japan
+ Fluent or Native level of English proficiency
+ N1 or N2 level Japanese language proficiency


Salary
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
+ Monthly salary of 210,000 ~ 500,000 yen + 2 bonuses per year (up to 4 months base salary)
+ Bonus twice a year (July and December)
+ Salary increase once a year (August)
+ Determined based on experience, ability, and current annual income
+ Various allowances (skill allowance, shift-work allowance, high season allowance, etc.)


Work Location

The following 2 work locations are available depending on the position:
1) Private Holiday House Team: 3-minute walk from Kyoto Station
2) Boutique Hotel Team: 8-minute walk from Shijo Station (downtown Kyoto)
*You may be asked to work at our Kanazawa city and Takayama city locations depending on your preference and experience.


Work Shift & Schedule
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
・Shifts of 8-9 hours per day
・Shift example: 7:00-16:00 / 9:00-18:00 / 10:00-19:00 / 11:00-20:00 / 12:00-21:00 / 21:00-8:00
・Break time: 1 hour (2-3 hours if working the night shift)
