Part-time work by person with bilingual Japanese and English skills required from December 2012 through December 2013. Duties: to coordinate the fund-raising campaign for the Inter-University Center for Japanese Language Studies (IUC), and to assist with planning of an IUC 50th Anniversary Symposium to be held in Yokohama in December 2013.

Coordinator to work from her/his own home or office in the greater Tokyo area. The IUC is located at 1-1-1 Minato Mirai, Nishi-ku, Yokohama, but the Coordinator is not expected to commute to the IUC. Working hours will be as needed and will vary from day to day and week to week; it is expected that 20 hours per week, on average, will be required.

The objective of the IUC campaign is to raise $5 million from Japanese and American corporations, foundations, and individuals in conjunction with IUC’s 50th anniversary in 2013. Approximately $2 million has already been raised. The 50th Anniversary Symposium will be the climactic event and the single biggest occasion for collecting donations and pledges of donations.

The Coordinator will report to and support the campaign’s Advisory Committee and the resident director of the IUC. Members of the Committee are established graduates of the IUC’s program in advanced Japanese language and other persons influential in US-Japan relations. All members of the Committee have significant US-Japan networks. Most members are resident in Japan; all members are native English speakers.

The Coordinator will support the Committee and the resident director of the IUC in pursuing targets (corporations, foundations, and individuals) identified by the Committee. This support will include scheduling meetings with prospective donors, writing letters and email messages in Japanese to prospects, and handling other administrative matters related to the campaign and the 50th Anniversary Symposium.

IUCキャンペーンは、日米両国の企業、団体、または個人から５百万ドルの寄附を募る事を目的とし、2013年のセンター50周年記念と連携する事業です。

すでに約２百万ドルの寄附が集まり、キャンペーンのメインイベントである50周年記念シンポジウムを、寄附集めの最大のチャンスとしています。

仕事内容：キャンペーン顧問委員会および当センター所長への報告と補佐業務

委員会はセンター上級日本語プログラムを修了したキャリアある卒業生、および日米関係の有識者によって組織され、委員全員が有力な日米ネットワークをもつ。メンバーは全員が英語ネイティブで、そのほとんどは日本在住。

委員会が対象にした企業（団体、個人）や寄附が見込まれる企業（団体、個人）との日本語による通信（手紙、email、または電話での連絡）および面会日時の設定、フォローアップなど、キャンペーンと50周年記念シンポジウムに関わる事務的業務が主なものです。
