About Sera town:
Sera is a town located in Sera District, Hiroshima Prefecture Japan. On October 1, 2004, the towns of Kozan and Seranishi, both from Sera District, were merged into the expanded town of Sera.
As of the merger but with 2003 population data, the town has an estimated population of 19,213 and a density of 69.04 persons per km². The total (expanded) area is 278.29 km².
After the merger, the former Sera Town Hall officially closed down and the new town hall is now located in the former town of Kozan.
About the position:
The placement will be in elementary school(s) and junior high school(s) in Sera town, Hiroshima Prefecture where the ALT will assist as a team teacher and help plan English lessons under a schedule created by GLAD and the Board of Education. As well as teaching English lessons, you may also be asked to participate in other school activities such as clubs, cleaning the school, cultural festivals and help students for speech contest.
September 1st 2020 – March 31st 2021
・Transportation costs will be covered at a certain rate per month (car and travel expenses included)
・Days off include weekends, national holidays, and other holidays set on the Board of Education's school calendar
・Ongoing and continuous support (training and advice)
・Monthly base compensation: From ¥240,000 per month (It will be decided after some interviews)
Elementary schools and Junior high schools: 8:30 AM - 4:15 PM on Monday thorough Friday
English Conversation classes for people who lives in this town: 7:30 PM - 9:00 PM (Twice per month)
・Placement: Elementary schools and Junior high schools, in Sera town.
・English native speaker
・Holder of a university Bachelor's degree (or higher)
・Holder of a valid visa status that allows work in Japan (visa sponsorship/renewal available)
・Holder of a Japanese driver's license or international driving permit
・Able to speak conversational Japanese: communication is crucial for planning and creating lessons with Japanese teachers of English. We also highly suggest that teachers be able to be involved with the communities here.
