Description

Thank you for your interest in working for Project Genius, a concern of Korakuen English Centre. We aim to be the premier English language consultancy firm for private secondary schools in Japan.
Our client school for this position is a private school located in Yokohama, Kanagawa. The school consists of both a junior and senior high school. It has a strong interest in improving the English skills of their students. The school’s athletics programs are very strong as is its fine arts programs. It actively recruits students with an international background, as well.

We are looking for someone who currently lives within a reasonable door-to-door commuting distance from the school campus, which is a short bus ride from Kibogaoka Station on the Sotetsu line.
Our instructors are provided with a monthly salary of 280,000, those with the appropriate advanced qualifications and academic background may receive more. We pay all our instructors their full monthly salary every month, even when our teachers are not required to be on site during the summer, winter, and spring holidays. Of course, transportation expenses are fully reimbursed, as well. We want our instructors to be proactive in solving problems but our experienced executive team is always available to our instructors to provide constructive advice, feedback, and support.
Interviews can be held in the center of Tokyo either near Ichigaya Station or in Kanagawa near Yokohama Station. We will begin to contact select applicants to interview for this position as soon as we begin receiving applications. However, even once this position is filled we foresee having additional openings in the Yokohama area, as well as other areas of Kanto, throughout February and March, so we encourage anyone interested in working for us apply.

Our ideal candidate:
-- currently lives within a reasonable door-to-door commuting distance from the school campus.
-- has a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution. A TESOL certificate from an accredited program or college is advantageous but not required.
-- has at least one year experience teaching at a public or private secondary school in Japan.
-- is comfortable with both solo and team teaching classes of up to 40 students at a Japanese private school.
-- can work full time Monday to Friday while being able to participate in weekend and off campus events such as sports days and open houses when asked.
-- is willing to be a team player to work within an established curriculum. Our team at this school is fairly large and has been working together for some time, so new instructors will be expected to follow established precedents fairly closely.

-- is comfortable using an online database to share lesson plans with our office and other teachers within the company.
-- possesses native English-level proficiency.
-- wants paid summer, winter, and spring holidays.
