We have specialized in teaching English to Japanese children for over 40 years and have created most of the in-class and homework learning aids we use in our constantly evolving program. We are not part of a chain school organization, but our system has been adopted by 50 independently owned sister schools in Japan, who look to us for leadership, seminar training and continuous, cooperative curriculum development.
We provide teacher training through frequent seminars, workshops, and senior peer assistance. PLS is also increasingly involved in program development and teacher training with elementary and junior high schools throughout Tokyo.
We are also interested in those who may additionally have Adobe Creative Suite experience or related skills to apply in the development of English learning aids.
The school is open Monday through Saturday (individual teachers work five consecutive days a week). The weekly working hours, including prep and record-keeping, are about 35 hours, but actual teaching hours are 20 to a maximum of 25, mostly afternoons and evenings. This position may also include classes taught at an elementary school that we provide teachers for.
There are one week vacations for spring break and Golden Week, and two weeks each for summer and winter holidays.
The successful applicant will start training and work from July.
There is a three month probationary period on a slightly reduced salary.
There are opportunities for advancement.
