Description

【Responsibility】
・Write, edit, review, and proofread content for the TEAP reading, listening, speaking
 and writing tests according to detailed test specifications.
・Take part in intensive item-development meetings where content submitted
 by subcontracted item writers is evaluated and revised.
・Assign and manage subcontracted work, evaluating the performance of item writers
 and providing feedback and further training.
・Train, manage, and evaluate examiners and raters for the speaking and writing tests.
・Rate responses from the speaking and writing tests.
・Assist at TEAP and EIKEN test sites as an administrator or examiner.
・Report to senior editors and section managers.
・Liaise and consult with advisors and language-testing scholars.
・Take part in academic conferences and promotional events.
・Maintain courteous and professional communication with colleagues in both English and Japanese.

【Requirements】
・Native English speaker
・Bachelor’s degree or higher
・Advanced writing, editing, and proofreading skills;
 able to demonstrate exceptional knowledge of spelling, grammar, punctuation, syntax,
 and style, and the ability to identify errors or inconsistencies in a text
・Experience teaching English at a Japanese high school, college, or university
・Advanced Japanese language proficiency (JLPT Level N2 or higher)
・Basic PC skills (Microsoft Office)

【Good to have skills】
・Experience writing or editing materials for publication;
 Test-development experience strongly preferred
・TESOL certification
・Desktop publishing skills (Adobe InDesign)

【Preferred Personality】
・Able to work as part of a team in a Japanese office environment, maintaining courteous
 and professional communication with colleagues in both English and Japanese.
・Desire to contribute to English language education in Japan

【Holidays】
Principally a Monday-to-Friday job, but weekend work is required during testing/rating periods.
