Description

Interac Group has nearly 3,000 teachers in more than 2.1 million English classes in over 7,000 elementary, junior high, and high schools throughout Japan. Let’s be honest – sometimes things don’t always go to plan. That’s where you would come in…

When the Interac Kanto and North Central company ALT who is normally assigned to a school is absent for a long period of time, we send in the Relief Teachers to save the day, the week, the month, or in some cases the year.

We are looking for teachers with experience in elementary, junior high, and high school environments, and who are extremely flexible to enter an potentially challenging environment and deal professionally with uncertainty. All travel and accommodation expenses are covered by the Interac branch with which they working while on their assignments.

This kind of work takes a special kind of teacher but it is a great opportunity for someone who wants to explore more of Japan and has a ‘see where this road takes me’ attitude. One week you could be going to school by helicopter to a far-off island (no joke) and the very next week you could be commencing a three-month assignment near a ski resort.

Regardless, Relief Teachers maintain a healthy work-life balance as they generally work from Monday to Friday with classes scheduled between 8 am and 5 pm. From time to time you may be required to work outside these hours/days in order to travel for deployment. Otherwise, you are able to enjoy weekends and national holidays as well as breaks in winter, spring, and summer.

Due to the varying nature of the deployments, it is expected that our Relief Teachers will be experienced teacher who can deliver a meaningful lesson in elementary, junior high or high schools with little information or preparation. A driver’s license that allows them to drive in Japan is also required.

COMPLETE YOUR APPLICATION TODAY!

Before submitting your application, we strongly advise you to check the requirements listed above in order to ensure that you meet them. We also recommend that you double check the details on your resume in order to ensure that the status of residence, phone, email, previous work details, etc. are accurate. Due to the ongoing nature of our recruiting activities, it may be some time before you receive a response to your application.
