Description

English Studio is accepting applications for a Full-time Native English Teacher position, starting in the middle of March, 2020.

Location: 2-min. walk from Kuhonbutsu St. or 8-min. walk from Jiyugaoka St. in Setagaya-ku (Tokyu Oimachi Line or Tokyu Toyoko Line)
Days: Tuesday - Saturday
Hours: will depend on classes. Tuesday - Friday: earliest start time is 11.00, latest finish time is 21.00 (maximum 8 working hours). Saturdays: 10.00-17.00
Transportation fees: provided up to 15,000JPY/month
Salary: first 3 months: 275,000JPY/month. After successful completion of probation: 280,000-290,000JPY/month
Health Insurance: Half is paid after first year of employment



English Studio is a well-established school in Setagaya-ku, offering a variety of courses to Returnee and Non-returnee students. Students study on programs based on inquiry learning and inspired by the International Baccalaureate, integrating science, social studies, arts, personal and social development, and language arts.

The successful candidate must be a native English speaker currently living in Japan. They will have a passion for education, and be capable of planning and delivering engaging, creative and enjoyable lessons to ESL and Returnee students, mainly of Pre-school and Elementary age. They will be professional, energetic, flexible and have excellent organizational skills. They will be joining a staff of 5 full-time and 4 part-time teachers and will receive comprehensive training and support. Student/teacher ratio is low (max. 8 students per class) and teachers are allocated classes for the whole academic year.

Interviews will be taking place in January and February. Candidates who are successful at the initial interview stage will be invited to teach a short demo lesson in one of our regular lessons. Interested candidates are requested to apply with a photo and cover letter detailing suitability for the position. We regret that only native speakers (not semi-native) will be considered for this position.
