The Swedish Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Japan (SCCJ) was established in 1992 to promote Sweden-related business in Japan. We actively support the Swedish business community by helping them build long-lasting business relationships in Japan and by advocating Swedish industry, technology and management culture.
The Board of Directors of SCCJ is now recruiting a General Manager to manage the daily operations of the SCCJ office and all the chamber’s activities.
Profile
What we are looking for:
- A permanent or long-term resident in Japan.
- Fluency in both written and spoken English and Japanese. Knowledge of some Swedish can be advantageous but is not a requirement.
- Knowledge of, and interest in, Japanese-Swedish business.
- Ability to independently manage the administration of SCCJ’s office while at the same time be able to arrange management-level meetings with member firms and other stakeholders, including other chambers of commerce, Business Swede, the European Business Council, the Embassy of Sweden, etc.
- A professional business person with experience in commerce and industry in Japan and/or overseas
- An excellent communicator, representing the SCCJ at events and functions
- Have a flair for marketing and attention to detail.
Responsibilities
The GM will be in charge of the daily operations of the SCCJ. The main areas of responsibility include:
- Events
Organise and manage regular events for members.
- Communications
Produce and manage SCCJ’s newsletters, website, social media, etc.
- Sponsorship sales
For events, newsletters, website, reports, etc.
- Financial administration
Manage budgets, invoicing, accounting, bank transfers, etc.
- Maintain membership database.
- Member recruitment
Retain members and recruit new members.
- Manage and coordinate committees and relationships with our stakeholders
Our members, but also other chambers, the European Business Council, the Embassy of Sweden, etc.
- Coordinate information and reporting for board meetings and general assemblies.
- Help manage projects to advance the SCCJ forward
- Regularly get feedback from members regarding services and activities that SCCJ provides
- Benchmark SCCJ offerings with other organisation
- Develop new services and activities to suit the needs of the members
- Able to develop contact networks among member companies, members, industrial and commercial partners
