Description

MY English School is expanding Yamagata's first and only English immersion kindergarten from the 2017 academic year and is looking for a native-speaker English-speaking kindergarten teacher. The position will begin in April 2017 with training in the 1-3 months prior to that.

Work hours:

Monday - Friday with teaching hours variable by day but falling between 8:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m.

Duties:

A MY Kindergarten instructor teaches kindergarten lessons for students ages 3 to 6 from approximately 9:00-2:00 Monday-Friday, cooperates with other teachers and staff, actively participates in and seeks out professional development opportunities, helps at school events, and is a contributing member of a professional group of teachers with high standards for education.. A licensed Japanese kindergarten teacher is also onsite during the kindergarten program. Tuesday-Friday may also include some English classes for kindergarten and/or elementary school students. The teacher is responsible for planning and implementation of lessons.

Requirements:

1) English: Native level
2) Japanese: Conversational
3) Experience residing in Japan
4) Ability to relocate to Yamagata
5) BA/BS university degree
6) Valid work visa (visa sponsorship available)
7) Professional attitude and demeanor
8) Love working with children
9) Experience teaching young learners
10) Willing to accept helpful criticism
11) Ability to adapt to a new teaching style

Preferences:

1) Certified kindergarten teacher qualifications
2) Experience living in rural Japan
