ALTIA CENTRAL is now accepting applications to join our team of fantastic ALTs for positions starting from April 1st, 2016 in Toyota City, Aichi Prefecture. Toyota is a beautiful place to live and work, with both a metropolitan core and ample greenery to enjoy, and is less than an hour away from Nagoya City by car or train. There are both junior high only and elementary only positions available in Toyota and we are looking for a number of great people to fill these openings.

ALTIA CENTRAL conducts weekday interviews on an ongoing basis at our offices in Nagoya and Osaka and we travel to other locations such as Tokyo, Shizuoka, Okayama and Hiroshima for weekend interviews as well. ALTs work in public schools assisting the Japanese teachers, and helping to provide a positive and energetic experience through English for the students. It’s a great chance to learn and use the Japanese language on a daily basis, to experience and appreciate cultural differences, and most importantly to be positively involved with the development of young children. Successful applicants should be available for a full 4-day Orientation/Training session from March 28th before starting their contracts and in schools from April 1st, 2016.

You must be flexible, enjoy working with young children, and be motivated to go the extra mile to provide a positive experience for their students. A strong desire to live and work in Japan, good Japanese language skills, and teaching experience with young learners is also highly recommended. A minimum BA/BS degree is required, and a degree in a relevant field such as Japanese, Japanese History, East Asian Studies, Linguistics and the like are particularly useful though not absolutely necessary.
