Description

The Publications Manager will be responsible for overseeing the online and print publications of the organization, and coordinating production schedules with journal editors.

The Publications Manager will work closely with other Members of the Media team.

This will also include writing press releases and working to develop and execute marketing strategy and affiliations with universities, educational institutions, publishing organizations and corporations.

The ideal candidate will be confident, well-presented, self-motivated and hardworking, and capable of working with others on projects both as part of a team, as well as independently, and possess excellent interpersonal and communicative skills. The candidate will be interested in working in a challenging international environment, with the strong opportunity for professional development and internal promotion.

We are looking for a native English speaker with excellent written English skills, and a strong command of written English. A familiarity with computers is also expected (Excel and MS word)

Priority will be given to candidates with some experience in publishing and/or editing, and backgrounds in education, or research.
• Experience in Publishing, editing and copyreading
• English: Native English Speaker (no Japanese required) or Japanese Native speaker with fluent English (if not a native speaker, TESOL/TOEIC preferred – please indicate score). An excellent command of written English is required
• Must currently reside in Japan
• Familiarity with MS Excel/word
• Excellent level of written English
• Detail oriented with exceptional writing, editing, and communication skills.
• Strong team leadership skills and ability to work collaboratively with an integrated marketing and communications team.
• Expert knowledge of print and web publication and journalism and ability to print production process including development, content management and execution on a set schedule.
• Strong project management skills: ability to work independently, establish priorities, work within tight deadlines and organize effectively.
• Media relations expertise including pitch development, media contacts and liaison best practices.
• Clear understanding of integrated communication strategy and execution.
• Experience working with Windows-based and Mac computers, Windows servers, FTP programs, and Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Access)
