Description

Hiring Business English Trainers for company classes, seminars, simulations, and assessments in Kanto area.

For over 10 years, Idea Development has been providing business English communication and cross culture skills training at many large Japanese companies and some foreign companies operating in Japan. Participants in our programs are typically satisfied and usually show obvious improvement, measured in before/after simulations.

We seek energetic, professional trainers who understand training, business English communication skills, and business basics. We also look for interesting characters with lots of personal flavor. You will help us deliver training to clients and develop the skills of participants.

Common program styles are: 20-minute 1-on-1 telephone lessons, 90-minute small group lessons, half day multi-trainer seminars and one day simulations/assessments.

Job Description:
- Attend internal training
- Go to client offices, mainly in Tokyo and surrounding areas
Deliver training programs like business English, communication, meeting, negotiation, presentation, cross culture and more
Conduct business English skills assessments via one-day simulations
Have fun and get paid.

Job Requirements (in order of importance):
1. Native level English speaker
2. Strong desire to help students improve
3. Energetic, self-motivated, punctual
4. Work well with others (we do a lot of work with teams of trainers)
5. Have some knowledge of or interest in business.

Others:
Our basic philosophy is to be simple, fair and easy. Here’s some examples.

Simple pay scheme
Whether delivering training to a client, receiving in-house training at our office, conducting research at home (if requested), or acting in our self-produced training videos, the pay is the same. Simple is best.

Minimum administrative hassle
Freelance trainers hate paperwork and so do we, so we try to minimize paperwork. Trainers do not have to keep track of their hours (except for their own records), report train fare, or fill out monthly reports. We keep track of hours and transportation costs and send an email once a month with our calculation for you to check. Even if attendance needs to be reported, trainers do it with a simple email, something like: “In class ABC at client XYZ, Mr. Sato was absent. All other students attended on time.”

Little dysfunctional bureaucracy
Trainers email and call the office to confirm schedule and pay. Management is just three Americans: A couple long time trainers who know all the content and the owner.

Extensive Training
We make all of our material in-house and often adapt it to each client’s needs. This means trainers often need to understand new material and how to adjust it. We have a lot of training so you can understand the plan and the material. This also means you don’t have to plan your own lessons or use immigrant-targeted ESL texts or silly eikawa material. Of course, training is paid.

Friendly Community and Networking
Since we do a lot in teams, trainers have many chances to socialize and generally get along. Informal parties are common and official events with free beer happen a couple times a year.

Skill Development and Career Enhancement
We’re fairly serious about training/workplace learning and performance/talent development, whatever you want to call it. Our crew includes half of Japan’s CPLPs, Certified Professional in Learning and Performance, and we’re on top of industry trends. If you want to learn more about the industry and develop your skills, we can probably help.

Extra:
We have a great crew of fun characters who rarely quit. We hire about once a year since we’re growing and some of our crew get busy or leave.
