ALTIA CENTRAL is now accepting applications to join our team of fantastic ALTs from September, 2015 in this non-driving, junior high position in Gifu City, Gifu Prefecture.

Gifu City is a modern and convenient city of about 400,000 people, and less than 30 minutes by train from much bigger Nagoya City. Gifu boasts a great castle and scenic river, a bustling downtown core, and super easy access to both up to the mountains and beautiful nature and down to cosmopolitan Nagoya and big-city life.

ALTIA CENTRAL conducts weekday interviews on an ongoing basis at our office in Nagoya City and we are looking forward to meeting as many qualified applicants as possible for this opening. We also regularly interview both during the week and on weekends at our Kansai office in Osaka as well.

ALTs work in public schools assisting the Japanese teachers, and helping to provide a positive and energetic experience through English for the students. It’s a great chance to learn and use the Japanese language on a daily basis, to experience and appreciate cultural differences, and most importantly to be positively involved with the development of young children. Successful applicants should be available for a full 4-day Orientation/Training session in late August before starting in school in or around September 1st, 2015.

You must be flexible, enjoy working with young children, and be motivated to go the extra mile to provide a positive experience for their students. A strong desire to live and work in Japan, good Japanese language skills, and teaching experience with young learners is also highly recommended. A minimum BA/BS degree is required, and a degree in a relevant field such as Japanese, Japanese History, East Asian Studies, Linguistics and the like are particularly useful though not absolutely necessary.
