Public School ALT - Kariya City (expired)

ALTIA CENTRAL is now accepting applications to join our team of fantastic ALTs in a sudden and immediate opening in in Kariya City, Aichi Prefecture. We are looking for one great person to fill this junior high school only position in just 2 schools.

Kariya is just south of Nagoya City, and is easily accessible by train from Nagoya and south central parts of Aichi Prefecture. This is a contract, starting immediately and running through to the end of the school year in March, 2016. Full salary is paid each month from the starting date, and including through the lengthy summer break. Depending on where you live or where you are commuting from, driving in not required for this position.

ALTs work in public schools assisting the Japanese teachers, and helping to provide a positive and energetic experience through English for the students. It’s a great chance to learn and use the Japanese language on a daily basis, to experience and appreciate cultural differences, and most importantly to be positively involved with the development of young children. Successful applicants should be available for a full 4-day Orientation/Training session before starting in school in or around late June, 2015.

You must be flexible, enjoy working with young children, and be motivated to go the extra mile to provide a positive experience for their students. A strong desire to live and work in Japan, good Japanese language skills, and teaching experience with young learners is also highly recommended. A minimum BA/BS degree is required, and a degree in a relevant field such as Japanese, Japanese History, East Asian Studies, Linguistics and the like are particularly useful though not absolutely necessary.
