Public School ALT - Takehara City, Hiroshima (expired)

ALTIA CENTRAL is now accepting applications for a direct hire ALT position in Takehara City, Hiroshima Prefecture. Takehara is a beautiful area, voted as one of Japan's most scenic cities and famous for traditional festivals, whiskey distilling, onsens and the extremely unique "rabbit island." It's located between Fukuyama and Hiroshima cities, just 30 minutes from Mihara City.

This is an interesting contract in that the ALT is actually employed directly through the local BOE, though still enjoys the training, resources and support our company offers. Assistance with securing an apartment and car is also possible.

ALTIA CENTRAL conducts weekday interviews on an ongoing basis at our offices in Nagoya City and will also be meeting applicants here on several weekends as well. From January through to the end of March, we normally travel to various cities from Tokyo all the way to down to Hiroshima to interview applicants on the weekends.

ALTs work in public schools assisting the Japanese teachers, and helping to provide a positive and energetic experience through English for the students. It’s a great chance to learn and use the Japanese language on a daily basis, to experience and appreciate cultural differences, and most importantly to be positively involved with the development of young children. Successful applicants should be available for a full 4- or 5-day Orientation/Training session starting from the 28th of March before starting in school in early April, 2015.

You must be flexible, enjoy working with young children, and be motivated to go the extra mile to provide a positive experience for their students. A strong desire to live and work in Japan, good Japanese language skills, and teaching experience with young learners is also highly recommended. A minimum BA/BS degree is required, and a degree in a relevant field such as Japanese, Japanese History, East Asian Studies, Linguistics and the like are particularly useful though not absolutely necessary.
