Description

Borderlink is now seeking adventurous, outgoing, professional, and flexible individuals with a genuine interest in Japan, who want to inspire students to learn.

Borderlink is highly respected among boards of education and schools throughout Japan. We provide ALTs with extensive training prior to placement, giving them the tools to be successful within the classroom. Our staff is dedicated to making sure that your transition to Japan goes smoothly. We provide help in finding apartments, banking, immigration issues, and getting acclimated to your new environment.

Applicants should have some proficiency in the Japanese language or a desire to learn the language. Previous teaching experience or extended interaction with children or young adults is preferred, but not necessary.

As an ALT, you would assist Japanese teachers of English in delivering lessons in the classroom, as well as be involved in lesson planning and other language teaching tasks. Other duties would include being a part of school club and sports, and school-wide events such as sports days, culture festivals, and music competitions.

In Japan, teachers will clean the schools with the students and also eat lunch with them. ALTs are expected to join in on such activities while interacting with the students as much as possible. Traditionally, English instruction at Japanese schools consists of mostly English grammar and translation, so many students have no opportunity to listen to or speak in English. This is where you come in, talking and laughing with the students not only in English class, but in the hallways, on the sports field, and anywhere else in between. It is an ALTs role to make English fun and “real” for the students. You will have the opportunity to give the students an insight that they could never obtain just from the textbook. This can be as simple as taking five minutes in class to talk about holidays or school life in your home country.

If you have interest in working in Japan at public elementary and junior high schools, we urge you to apply now.

Thank you for your interest in Borderlink. We look forward to hearing from you soon!

* PLEASE NOTE THAT ONLY SUCCESSFUL APPLICANTS WILL BE CONTACTED FOR AN INTERVIEW*

* HAVING 12 YEARS EDUCATION WITH ENGLISH BEING THE MEDIUM OF INSTRUCTION IS A REQUIREMENT FOR THE INSTRUCTOR VISA NEEDED TO TEACH AT PUBLIC SCHOOLS IN JAPAN*
