Cezars Kitchen is seeking a qualified Chef to join our kitchen in Nagano/Nakakaruizawa. Japanese citizenship, permanent residency or working Visa is preferred but for the right candidate, sponsorship consideration will be given. Cezars Kitchen is expanding and we’re looking for people who are interested in working in a fast pace, always changing food service environment.
Chefs who join Cezars Kitchen will support the life blood of a school, its food service program. Our students rely on us to energize them and give them the strength to learn and prepare of life. This is no easy feat, as we are always striving to improve the atmosphere, menu and overall service in our kitchens. We're not your typical school lunch company; our philosophy is focused on creating food that is alive with flavors and enjoyable. Our communities are truly international with students from all over the world with different pallets. We never rest and are always sourcing the most authentic foods and creating popular recipes.

Duties & Responsibilities:
1. Hire, train, ongoing development and manage all kitchen staff. This includes, assigning tasks, assigning breaks, creating work schedules, disciplining and completing yearly appraisals.
2. Prepare, cook and serve daily meals. Person needs to be comfortable with large batch cooking and able to efficiently prepare meals numbering from 100~500 on a regular basis, while maintaining quality and presentation. Candidates with professional culinary training will be given priority consideration.
3. Placing food orders and managing local supplier relations.
4. Support with menu development, create menus and improve food quality to ensure the highest quality in food is being prepared daily.
5. Liaison between school administration and Cezars Kitchen. This includes working with the school for catering and event functions as well as supporting the needs and concerns of parents and other community members.
6. Work without direct supervision. The manager needs to be able to manage his/her schedule without direction and be self motivated to increase sales, exceed standards and build relationships with the community. The Head Office is located in Nagoya, limiting on-site supervision. For the right person, this environment will be empowering and encourage a sense of ownership.
7. Able to manage costs and profit figures. The manager should be acclimated to profit and loss statements, labor targets, cost of goods sold and other financial measurements. He/she will be responsible for managing and meeting budgetary numbers.
8. Comfortable with meeting clients and preparing catering services from small morning coffee service to large plated black-&-white tie events.
9. Able to use a computer. Basic operation needed to respond to emails, manage inventory and work our pc based register software.
10. Cash accountable. Cash payments are received locally requiring daily register closeout process and cash management responsibility.
Work Conditions:
- Regular schedule is a rotating 6 days working 1 day off and 5 days working two days off. Weekend support as needed for school functions.
- Regular hours are morning to afternoon. Three services are provided at the school including, breakfast, lunch and dinner. In the event of evening school function, schedule will need to be extended.
- Willing to relocate to the Nakakaruizawa area if necessary.
- Holds a valid drivers license and is able to drive to the kitchen.
- Commands a strong knowledge of Japanese cuisine, culture and work ethic.
