Saturday Part Time Native English Instructor (expired)

English-Please! is an independent, modern Adults & Kids Eikaiwa Language School in Nara Prefectre. We are looking for an outgoing, experienced, professional Native English Instructor who is available to join our teaching staff from March 2025.

We are seeking a Native English speaker with ESL experience for a part-time position English Instructor position. The schedule will be on Saturday Mornings starting at 09:00. The lessons can range between 4 to 6 per Saturday with more opportunities later in the year for those interested in them.

The successful applicant will be required to:

• plan, prepare, and conduct kids and adults lessons using multimedia materials (42 teaching weeks per year);
• monitor and report student progress


Job details:

• Instructor is paid for the preparation, conducting, and reporting of lessons. Lessons are compensated at a rate of ¥3,000 for a 50-minute lesson including preparation and reporting, ¥2,500 for a 40-minute or 45-minute lesson including preparation and reporting, and ¥2,000 for a 30-minute lesson including preparation and reporting. Reporting takes about 5 mins per lesson taught. Preparation time decreases from 15 mins per lesson as a trainee to 10 mins after a couple of months as a regular teacher because most of the games and activities repeat with new words and need little review once you are used to them.
• All training is provided and paid at an hourly rate of ¥1,250, plus transport (working hours are blocked).
• Part-timer shifts are nearly always blocked lesson-to-lesson shifts. For 6 lesson shifts, there is a 1 hour lunch break (several places to eat nearby).
• Schedules are pretty fixed and allow the teacher to teach the same students week after week, helping to create a better relationship with the student.
• Transportation allowance is provided at up to ¥2,500 per day of work. The school is 45 minutes from Namba by Kintentsu to Yamato-Yagi station, and a 5-minute walk from the station to the school.
