Part time Private Junior/Senior High School Teacher in the Tama area from April 2025
4 days a week (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday)
Thank you for your interest in working for Project Genius, a concern of Korakuen English Centre. We aim to be the premier English language consultancy firm for private secondary schools in Japan.
Our client school for this position is a co-ed secondary school in the city of Machida, Tokyo, 20 minutes by bus from JR/Odakyu Machida, 13 minutes by bus from JR Fuchinobe, and 15 by bus from Keio/Odakyu Tama Center.
We are looking for someone who is available to work four days a week, Monday, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM. It is a one-year contract from April 2025 until March 2026 with the possibility to renew in successive years.
Applicants must be:
• Already living in Japan
• Able to legally work in Japan as of April, 2025
We will not consider candidates who do not meet these two requirements. We do, however, provide assistance to our teachers in renewing visas.
Our compensation package includes:
• A monthly pre-tax salary of 224,000 yen per month.
• Transportation expenses will be fully covered and reimbursed.
• A Japanese school year based renewable contract.
• Remuneration that is not reduced during summer, winter, or spring vacations.
Our ideal candidate:
• currently lives within a reasonable door-to-door commuting distance to the school campus.
• has a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution. A TESOL certificate from an accredited program or college is advantageous but not required.
• has at least one year experience teaching at a public or private secondary school in Japan.
• is able to solo teach a class of junior high school students of about 20 students using mostly English
• enjoys having a positive rapport with junior high school students.
• can independently develop lesson plans, create instructional materials, and deliver engaging lessons following both written and verbal guidelines.
• wants to take the initiative in terms of lesson planning and classroom management but is also willing to share ideas and keep a positive attitude with the staff and teachers, Japanese and non-Japanese, at our client school as well as with our off-site office and executive team.
• is willing to work in non-teaching roles such as correcting essays, proctoring exams, and joining regular meetings.
• possesses native English-level proficiency.
• possesses conversational Japanese-level proficiency in order to work successfully with staff and other teachers at our client-school while proctoring exams and completing other day-to-day office tasks.
