Description

Musashi International School Tokyo seeks an educator with experience in a multicultural
environment. The position is a long term maternity substitute teacher position for a MSHS English Teacher. The candidate should reside in Japan and be willing to work in a Cambridge Assessment International Education School in Tokyo. We are searching for an individual who has strong teaching experience with a MSHS English/Social Studies background and is flexible working with different levels of students of Middle and High School ages

This position would begin on January 6, 2025 and would be for one year with the possibility of extending.

Key Responsibilities

・Deliver lessons with appropriate teaching aids and differentiated support to students.
・Work effectively and collaboratively with other faculty members.
・Perform administrative tasks as and when required.

General Qualifications, Skills, and Experience Required:
・Preference will be given to those with experience teaching in a secondary school
・Preference will be given to those with a teaching background (degree, licensure)
・Preference will be given to those with a degree in the relevant field for subject
・High level of personal skill in and passion for teaching middle and high school students
・Interest in innovative lesson design and in helping English language learners.

Professional Responsibilities:
・Planning and instructing lessons on specific topics and subjects
・Enforcing classroom management and school policies
・Assessing and accommodating students' learning needs and style
・Classes would include:
  ○Cambridge English (Year 7): This course builds foundational skills in reading, writing, speaking, and listening. Students expand vocabulary, develop comprehension, and engage in creative and analytical tasks, enhancing critical thinking and communication abilities.
  ○Cambridge English (Year 8-9 Combined Class): This course focuses on advanced reading, writing, and critical analysis. Students explore diverse texts, refine essay-writing skills, and engage in creative expression, preparing them for academic success and effective communication in various contexts.
  ○Cambridge Global Perspectives: This course encourages students to explore global issues while developing critical thinking, research, and communication skills. It focuses on fostering an understanding of worldwide challenges, encouraging students to look at topics from multiple perspectives, and promoting collaboration and problem-solving.
  ○Genius Hour: A project-based learning class where students have the freedom to explore their personal passions and interests. It allows them to research, create, and present projects of their choice, promoting creativity, independent thinking, and innovation.
  ○Advisory Class: which involves guiding students in personal, social, and emotional development. The teacher helps build a supportive classroom environment, assisting students with setting academic goals, developing life skills, and nurturing emotional well-being and character growth. They will also be in charge of making sure all the attendance for students have been submitted by the teachers.
・Grading students' assignments, tests, and exams
・Preparing narratives for report cards.

Working Hours:
Monday to Friday, 8:00 am-4:30 pm
40 hours per week

MSHS English Teacher - General duties:
・Full-time teaching load
・Attendance at field trips (including overnight) throughout the year.

・Education and Work experience requirements: Should have qualifications and experience in teaching English / Social Studies to middle school and/or high school students
