English Teacher in Chofu, Tokyo

KDM is currently seeking native English speakers for teaching positions using the GrapeSEED program at kindergartens in western Tokyo.


A little about KDM:
For the past 20 years KDM has been working alongside a kindergarten in western Tokyo, teaching their English program. We use the GrapeSEED curriculum, which involves exposing the children to an immersive English environment. We believe that children should see English as something to enjoy, rather than just another class.

We currently employ 9 teachers, and teach 600+ students (350+ in the kindergarten and 250+ in our afterschool program). All of the children in the afterschool program graduate from our English class at the kindergarten so each student knows the materials and each other.

We are looking for teachers who love to sing and can bring some of their own interests and personality into the classroom.

Working hours are
9:30am - 18:10pm Monday, Friday
9:30am - 18:40pm, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday
(Lunch break 11:40-12:40)

Responsibilities:
- Working with other teachers to create effective lesson plans
- Teaching English to children age 3-10
- Attending School events when requested
- Playing with children during play hours
- Being energetic and playful

We are looking for someone who...
- can sing
- enjoys working with children
- loves music and dance
- can show creativity in lesson planning
- can play a musical instrument (guitar/piano etc...)
- has experience teaching English (preferable)
- is EFL/TESOL qualified (preferable)

National holidays and weekends are off, except a limited number of days throughout the year when school events are held. Summer and Winter holidays are provided and 10 paid vacation days are available for you to use during Spring holiday.
