We are seeking a native English-speaking teacher to deliver English classes and perform the same varied daily duties as other full-time teachers at Tokyo Seitoku Junior and Senior High School.
Training will be provided at the end of August in preparation to start work on September 1st. The school apply for your special teaching license from the Tokyo Metropolitan Government, so a valid Japanese teaching license is not a requirement for this position.
At Tokyo Seitoku you will be working alongside staff from a variety of international backgrounds. You will be developing and delivering your own classes, as well as team-teaching alongside your colleagues. We have several full-time native English-speaking teachers on staff, which allows for smaller class sizes and more direct English teaching.
Job Description:
- 18 periods a week solo-teaching or team-teaching with native English-speaking colleagues. Teaching communicative English to students in line with the junior and senior high school’s curriculum and the kindergarten special lessons
- Assisting and guiding students in their studies
- Performing school management work
- Planning and delivering extra-curricular sessions and seminars
- Participating in school events
Requirements:
- Enthusiastic about education
- University degree (bachelor’s degree and above)
- Valid work visa for Japan
- Computer and word processing skills
Desirable:
- TESOL qualification (e.g., CELTA)
- English teaching experience
- Japanese language skills
Salary:
- Determined in accordance with the school’s salary regulations
- Variable depending on experience
- Salary increases on annual renewal
- 350,000 yen per month (in the case of a 30 year old applicant with no teaching experience)
Working Hours:
- Monday to Friday, 8:15 to 16:30 (including a 45 minute break)
- Two Saturdays a month, 8:15 to 14:00
- 40 hours per week
